Annual
Investors Meeting and Luncheon
July 17, 2008

Kentucky Lieutenant Governor Daniel Mongiardo
CCEDC investors
heard how the state is planning to promote energy
independence, adventure tourism, foreign investment,
and post-secondary education.
Kentucky Lt. Gov.
Dan Mongiardo was the speaker for the annual
Investors Meeting, held July 17, 2008 at the
Ed Tech Training Center.
Liquefied coal
could replace petrochemicals as an automotive
fuel, at a cost of $40 per barrel. The technology,
now in development, would ideally be installed
at the mine sites around the state, reducing
the cost of transporting coal for processing.
Mongiardo said that coal's major pollutants,
including carbon dioxide and sulfur, could be
captured for industrial uses for which there
is demand.
Focusing on education,
Mongiardo pointed out that 94 counties of Kentucky
now have baccalaureate rates lower than the
national average for Mexico.

CCEDC Education Director Dulcie Hardin
shows Lt. Gov. Dan Mongiardo some of
the technology that the Ed-Tech Center uses
to keep the county connected.
